KEEP YOUR NOSE UNBLOCKED!

_

Nasal congestion is a symptom of a cold, which is never fun for anyone. Here are some tips to help you improve your resistance!

Keeping healthy and fit is a priority to you and your family. We usually see Summer and warmer periods as a time for fun and relaxation, and many people use it as an opportunity to get outside and soak up the sun. The worst is catching a cold when it’s still warm and sunny outside. Here are some tips to keep a cold from ruining your sun filled days.

- Wash your hands regularly.

It’s important to wash your hands on a regular basis, as washing your hands with soap and water helps protect you from germs and other bacteria. Although people around you aren’t sniffing, it doesn’t mean your environment is entirely germ-free. Airborne viruses are still around, even though no one is showing symptoms. Keeping a waterless hand sanitiser on your desk or at home is great for a quick clean when you’re busy.

- Practice good health habits.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Practicing these good health habits reduces the chances of you getting the flu or a common cold.

- Get enough Vitamin D.

Vitamin D is important to help the body ward off illness. Most people should be able to get all the vitamin D they need from sunlight, but it can also be found in some food groups, including oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines, as well as red meat and eggs. If you’re not a meat-eater, spending 10 to 15 minutes in the sun is a great way to absorb Vitamin D naturally! It’s also added to all infant formula milk for your baby, as well as some breakfast cereals, fat spreads and non-dairy milk alternatives.

As the old saying goes, prevention is better than cure. So ensure your family and you are protected.
