The winter season is almost here. For most of us it’s a chance to sit in front of the TV and snuggle into a blanket with junk food, but it is important to practice good healthy habits such as moderate exercise in order to eliminate your chances of getting sick.
Exercise is hard work. It’s a struggle in summer and becomes even harder in winter. Here are some tips, however, to stay healthy and active this winter season.
Stay active and healthy.*
It’s often thought that you have to go to the gym or explore the outdoors to keep healthy. This is not true.
Staying fit can be achieved from the comfort of your own home. Pilates, Zumba, and Yoga tutorials are easily available online. Simply dress up in your workout gear, pull out the Yoga mat (dust off the cobwebs), find a video online and get to it.
A 30-45 minute workout twice or thrice a week can help you feel the difference in your body and mind.

Healthy Comfort Food
Eating healthily is a problem we face throughout the year. In winter this struggle just gets harder. Comfort foods like pizza and pasta always seem to be tempting us. Fortunately, there are various foods to eat that are equally as delicious, but also good for you and your body.
Give some soup a go; a hearty soup will warm you up and keep you healthy. Include garlic where possible as it may assist the body in keeping healthy and adds tons of flavour. And remember to stay hydrated.
Avoid the common cold
Dress warmly - shivering depresses the immune system and 30% of our body heat is lost through our heads.
Wash your hands regularly as germs are spread through the air and settle on surfaces. You never know what germs you are touching, so wash up before touching vulnerable parts of the face.
Most importantly, don’t forget to eat well, drink fluids and sleep properly.
