For many, winter marks the least favourite season of the year. From colder temperatures to lower immunity, it’s a common time for many to be “Man-Down”. While this gives mom the perfect chance to swoop in and get into full TLC mode, there are a few things that you can do to embrace winter and fend off those sniffles. We’re sharing a few of our favourite winter tips to keep you feeling your best.
1) Break out that winter wardrobe
Yes, it is cold. No, you don’t have to stay indoors beneath several blankets. Winter is a time to pull out those jackets, scarves, beanies, and boots. It’s a great way to change up your style with fun additions that add interest to an outfit. Think a patterned scarf against a plain jacket. If you take a moment to go through your cupboard, you probably have a lot of items you can wear this season.
2) Head to bed a little earlier
With the sun setting earlier, it’s a great excuse to catch some extra Zzzzz's. At this time of the year, our bodies can be more sensitive to a host of things including temperatures and certain kinds of illnesses. This makes additional rest a good way to keep us happy and healthy.
3) Reach for those comfort foods
The colder weather is a good reason to enjoy hot, nourishing foods like soups and stews. These offer a great source of comfort during winter. If you missed our butternut soup recipe, it’s not too late to grab it here.
4); Find new hobbies
It might not get that cold in South Africa during winter but there will be certain past-times that take a back seat at this time of year. It’s okay to replace that 5am road run with a session of hot yoga in the afternoons or switch that picnic with an indoor movie marathon. Find what makes you happy this winter and go with it.
Should you find yourself “Man-Down” this season, you don’t have to rely solely on mom. With iliadin® Metered Nose Spray, helping you feel relief from a blocked nose up to 2 days sooner¹*, you might discover a new love for winter after all.
DID YOU KNOW?
Men and women really do suffer from a cold differently. According to a US study, the female hormone oestrogen gives women a stronger immune system, enabling them to be more resistant to sickness compared to testosterone-driven men.
